Joan Houlihan: Author of Hand-Held Executions: Poems and Essays, is the director of the Concord Poetry Center in Concord, MA. She writes the column The Boston Comment, which appears on Web Del Sol and Arts and Letters Daily, and also serves as Editor-in-Chief for Perihelion and Senior Poetry Editor for Del Sol Review. Her manuscript Cincture, won the 2005 Green Rose Award for a second book, and is forthcoming from New Issues Press in spring, 2006. Ms. Houlihan formerly taught Creative Writing and Literature at Pima College in Tucson, AZ.

Author of Bound by Red Clay, Piedmont Stubble, How to Write Cinquains, and How to Write Haiku, she has been nominated for the Ben Franklin Publishers Award, Kate Tufts Discovery Award and Georgia Author of the Year. The Gopher Tortoise was nominated for Pushcart Prize. She is Editor of La Petite Zine.
